Explore the heartland of Mongolia! This fun filled day is the perfect trip if your stay here is short. You can experience bite sized portions of the best Mongolia has to offer. You can ride a horse, eat lunch in a ger and explore the surrounding countryside.
As a Mongolian company we prefer to support Nomadic families financially, and help support their livelihoods. We are sure this resonates with our travelers who enjoy engaging with their culture on The Steppe. It is therefore our preference to stay with these families if they have an extra Ger. As well as directly supporting local herders, you can experience this rich traditional way of life first hand.
Tour departure times can be flexible, however, 8 am on the morning of departure is recommended. The driver and guide can pick you up from the airport, train station, or your accommodation to suit your requirements.
Summer months in Mongolia are from early June to mid September. Although the Mongolian summers are hot and dry with occasional rain, the temperature can fluctuate as much 14-20 degrees centigrade between day and night. So be prepared for all weather conditions.
Sunscreen, a hat, long underwear, shorts, comfortable footwear, lip balm, sanitary hand wipes, sunglasses, prescription medications (if needed) rain gear.
Day tour will start from Meg’s Guesthouse at 8am. However, the driver and guide can pick you up from the airport, train station, or your accommodation to suit your requirements.
Our first stop will be the Chinggis Khaan statue. It is a jaw dropping scene among beautiful hills and plains.
We will then move on to Terelj national park. This has long been a holiday resort for people from the capital and short – stay travellers. It is one of the most visited areas in Mongolia due to its magnificent scenery and its proximity to Ulaanbaatar. We will be visiting Turtle Rock and the surrounding wilderness is a picturesque place of high cliffs of granite, rivers and forests. In winter frozen rivers provide skating and snow- covered valleys are ideal for cross- country skiing.
Activities including horse riding for an hour, eat lunch in a local family ger and hike to Ariyabal Meditation Temple. We will start driving back to Ulaanbaatar at 16:30. Finish the day tour at Meg’s Guesthouse.
